Looking for that perfect neutral
I’m often asked by my customers, for a wall color in a neutral tone, that is used as an alternative to white. Not too gray, leaving the walls feeling cold, not too beige as to become a color that competes with the other neutrals and colors in the room.
Top Three
The top three I have used are Crisp Muslin (DE6212), Crystal Haze (6219) and Foggy Day (DE6226).  Each of these have a slightly different undertone, you will see the difference when they are set side by side on the wall. For most rooms, these colors will pick up and reflect some ambient colors, which make them really interesting tones.
 Adjustments
Adjusting colors on-site due to prevailing factors is part of the joy of my work.  Lighting has a big influence on how saturated these colors will render and is one the factors I watch for very carefully.  If you put the above colors in a huge sun-lit room, they may be too light and may look more like off-whites. If that’s the case, move down to the shade below them (for instance DE6212 would become DE 6213), which is generally 30% deeper. You could mix a color right in between these two colors, by asking them at the store to mix DE6212 at 15% deeper. Dunn Edwards can deepen the color by any percentage you call for.  Please feel free to call me to consult with me on any color questions, as I will come out to your home or business and personally share with you my expertise and knowledge in color consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
